Here are some pictures of props and production shots from the
cable access TV show that I work on.

All props have been designed and constructed by me, unless otherwise stated. Cool, eh?

Walking on the moon (thanks to Adobe..)

May 5, 1999

This is a space suit slated for episode two. Its made of a five gallon water bottle, a Tyvex clean suit and a bunch of PVC fittings.
The tanks are two 2 l. soda bottles covered with tape. The frame is PVC and part of a back pack that I bought from a local thrift store (ok, it was Savers. Best place on Earth to buy crap.)
The detail of the pack was done using aluminum duct tape, multi colored electrical tape, wire, zip ties (in a rainbow of colors) and foam pipe insulation.
The neck ring is a binding ring from an open reel magnetic tape spool. It has a nice latch that makes it practical. Its not done quite yet, I still have to fit to the actor that will use it.

May 8, 1999

The suit is about 90% done. the last thing that needs to be done is to build some sort of chest pack.
I think I'll use an old Toshiba laptop case. I'll put a bunch of wires in it, maybe even a blinking light or two.

July 2, 1999

Due to lack of time I had to go with the design that does not incorporate a chest pack.
As of mid June all the major suit scenes have been shot. We even pulled off a roof top space walk.
Next projects will be a hand held sensor device and a weapon of some sort.
I'll be posting some pictures of the 'K drive' that powers the house sometime soon.

August 3, 1999

I have finally posted some pictures of the 'K-Drive'.

Just starting construction.
Installed and running, note the
glow from the Mac and the
lights in the white hose.
Another shot.

The motor is built out of foamcore, a Christmas popcorn tin, and some discarded electronic parts.
The large box with the multi colored display (fesnel lens and scraps of gels) houses a Macintosh SE/30.
Its running a screen saver to make blinking lights, I doubt this is what the people at Apple intended it for.
All the other junk is a mix of whatever I had in my junk box.
Aluminum and PVC drier hose, dead CDs (thanks AOL!), lots of wire, a real cool adjustable RF coil, Christmas lights, and home made warning labels.
To be honest, its not what I had originally intended to build, but budget got the better of me once again.

First day of shooting for episode two.

Ben in the suit, walking the halls of an alien ship.
Like my lighting? (Need help on a project in the greater Phoenix area? Give me a ring.)
